Breakfast in Paris/Petit Dej' à Paris
A wonderful little blog that I stumbled on for those who love French pastrymaking - Carol Gillot offers a watercolor a day as she jaunts about Paris checking out everything from Ladurée macaroons to Dalloyau opera cakes.
She also has a link to where her portfolio can be admired (or purchased) of watercolor foodie art. Visit Carol's blog at:

Un petit blog génial que j'ai découvert, pour ceux qui adore l'art de la pâtisserie française - Carol Gillot nous offre une aquarelle par jour au fur et à mesure qu'elle erre dans Paris, cherchant tout, des macarons Ladurée au opéras Dalloyau.
Elle a également un lien à son portfolio où de l'art gastronomique en aquarelle peut être admiré (ou acheté). Visiter le blog de Carol à:

Ah-ha! I was wondering if you had heard about this wonderful blog, I too stumbled upon it sometime ago and had added it to my "bookmark" list. Really, this blog is a little bit of torture for all who don't live it Paris, but love all the pleasures it has to offer! Hopefully, one day soon, I'll get the chance to visit Paris again. My husband's uncle now lives in Paris, after semi-retiring from NYU, where he taught religious art history for many years. It would be wonderful to be able to visit them.
BTW- Thanks so much again for your comments, glad you liked the NYC photos! Also, thanks for adding my site to your link list, and if you don't mind I'll add yours to mine. Oh yes, I've also added "Nightwatching" to my Netflix list.

This is an interesting site, but a couple of things struck me. First, the glaring mistake on page 1, boldly announcing bonne jour. Second, the muffins at the New York bakery looked so American -- with unnecessary piles of icing, slathered to generously on top. While I am sure these muffins are probably better than the average, I am still reminded of an experience I had several years ago. When I was in any restaurant in the US, and I asked the waitress about an item on the menu, whether it was good, and she replied. Oh, it's a very generous portion.

Diane,
Well, I think you must make a point of coming to Paris so we can meet up and see to some important things like pastry-shop hunting and going out looking for images to draw and photograph! Hurry up!
As for your husband's uncle, I studied with Gombrich at NYU, my alma mater! I don't suppose he was the uncle in question...?
Thank you for putting me on your blog -
Deborah

Mallard,
Ah, in any event, we love nice things to eat, don't we?

Totally off topic, but you're the only Parisian I know. What's your take, the country's take on this story: http://tinyurl.com/39e83a Euthanasia debate woman found dead
